Mortgage Arrears
Behind on your mortgage payments? We help you resolve arrears quickly and protect your home before the situation escalates.
Missing mortgage payments is one of the most stressful situations a homeowner can face. If you've fallen behind, your lender has specific legal steps they must follow before initiating power of sale - and there is usually more time and more options than people realize. We work with homeowners in arrears every day. Whether the cause was job loss, illness, divorce, or unexpected expenses, our job is to find a financing solution that clears your arrears, brings your mortgage current, and gives you a path forward. The sooner you reach out, the more options we have.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many missed payments before my lender can start power of sale?
In Ontario, lenders can begin the process after as few as 15 days past due, though most wait until payments are 3 months or more in arrears. Once notices are issued there are defined waiting periods - but time still matters. Call us as early as possible.
Can I refinance if I'm in arrears?
Traditional banks will not refinance a mortgage in arrears, but private lenders absolutely can - especially when there is sufficient equity in the property. We specialize in exactly this type of file.
What if I have other debts on top of my mortgage arrears?
We can often roll mortgage arrears, property tax arrears, and other pressing debts into the same financing solution so you come out the other side with one manageable payment and a clean slate.
Will this affect my credit permanently?
Missed mortgage payments do appear on your credit report, but resolving them quickly limits the damage. Once your mortgage is current, your credit has the foundation to recover. We'll also discuss steps you can take to rebuild after the situation is stabilized.
